7 Weird Things About Me …

Hi all, I found this on another blog, Virtually This And That, so I thought it would be fun to keep it going an tag someone else. I think this is kinda fun, so here goes.

7  Weird Things About Me…

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

# 1. I hate putting on clothes if I am in my home…… you see, there is only my husband and I and our little yorkie gizmo at home. So needless to say, we are usually in night clothes when we are just sitting around the house. (weird huh?)

# 2. I have a fear of driving over water…… you see I tend to feel like I might fall asleep or somthing and drive off into the water, its the same with over passes as well.

# 3. I could watch ‘Lonesome Dove’ on a daily basis……this has got to be my all time favorite movie in the world.

# 4. When I’m dancing, (which isn’t often) my body is not in sync with the music. I am totally all over the place. I just can’t seem to keep the beat.(note: I can dance my tail off sitting down)

# 5. When eating a meal, i.e.dinner etc. I can never seem to fix a single plate of food. I have to eat the food one item at a time. I will eat the meat on a small plate first, then I will have a seperate small bowl for each vegetable. I don’t want the food to touch each other. (I know…thats really weird)

# 6. I am addicted to mowing the lawn with a push mower. You see I live out in the country in Texas, and we hae a couple of acres. We have 2 riding mowers however I like to mow with the push mower. I use to rush home from work in anticipation of mowing. It made me feel relaxed.

# 7. Last but not least, I like to ride tractors. My neighbor has 25 acres and this huge Kabota tracker with a bush hog on it. So every now and then I will go next door and mow his pasture on the huge tractor.

Okay…….. so the cats out of the bag, and you all know how weird I am. Lets see if you can top that!

Tag, you’re it!

What Do You Do If? ……….

Let me ask you,

what you do when that first potential client says “I’m sure you would do a great job ‘but’…….. I simply can’t pay that much right now.”

Well, as it so happens that’s exactly what happened to me. My heart just sank to the floor in shear disappointment. You start to question yourself,

Is my price too high?

Did I not get enough information, before submitting a quote?

Am I just not ready yet?

Did I do something wrong?

Should I lower my rate?

The answer to all of those questions is ‘no’. I did everything that I did everything that I was supposed to do. My rate is just that, ‘my rate’. And by God I am sticking to it. I know that I have set forth a decent completive rate based in part on what it is costing me to run my office and still make a profit. And you know what……. I am worth it!

Do not get me wrong now, I am not bitter towards the individual for passing me up, nor do I feel like, oh well, it is their lost. The fact of the matter is maybe we just were not the right fit. Or maybe true to the individual’s response, they really just could not afford it.

Whatever the case may be, there is the right client out there for me, and by George, I am going to find them. I write this experience do that maybe the next new Virtual Assistant that comes along can see that hey, no matter what stick to your guns and do not ever feel like you are not worth it.

So at this point I am going to step on out here on the ‘World Wide Web,” and continue to get my feet wet. And if at any time I feel like I am drowning, well, there is an entire village of virtual assistants at my disposal who are always ready, willing, and able to throw me a life raft if the need arises.

Until next time, Create for yourself, a joy filled day!

Singing – Make A Joyful Noise!

I am a Virtual Assistant, who happens to also be a singer. I live out in the country in Texas with my husband, and my Yorkshire Terrier “GIZMO’. I’ve only been in the Virtual world a couple of months, but I have been singing all of my life.

I sing with a group of about 12 people divided into 3 groups.

* This group is comprised of the 12, as a whole, called ” The Gospel Voices of Light. We sing comtemporary gospel music and (at the request of our audeince) some secular music. Mostly Motown stuff and oldies.
* Group 2, consists of 3 troop members from the 12. This group is called ” Colorblind”. We primarily do secular music with live band. We also do Industrial shows and quite often get a lot of request to record background vocals on other peoples cd’s in the recording studio.
* Group 3 is actually Benita Artterbery who is the leader of the entire group, and myself . We do a lot of studio work, commercials and such.

One of my most recent opportunities was a couple of months ago when we were asked to perform for one of Texas most prize Baseball greats, Nolan Ryan. It was his birthday party in Austin, TX and we were the opening act for Neal McCoy and Charlie Pride.

Boy I’ll tell ya, you could have bought me for fifty cents when I was introduced to Neal McCoy. I was like a teenager at a Hanna Montanna concert.

That skinny little man made my heart skip a beat. My group members shoved me in front of him, and told him I was his biggest fan so he proceeded to wrap his arms around me and gave me the biggest hug.

He put on a fantastic show (singing dirrectly to me of course – lol), and when he finished “Charlie Pride” came on and gave a proformance. (Somehow he didn’t seem to make my heart skip a beat).

I’ve had some of the most interesting opportunities come my way over the years only second to the fact that I am married to one of the former members of the “Coasters”.

Some of you youngsters may not know who the Coasters are, (consult parents) and thats okay. I only mention it because my husband compliments who I am. And we share the love of music and song.

Tonight I am performing at a function for the holidays, at someones mansion in the ritzy part of Dallas, Texas. Should be fun. Until next time always keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
